Pray the Scriptures, May 4

Acts 8:5-25

Lord Jesus,

I pray for ______________________ and myself, that we will speak the word and proclaim you as the Christ wherever we find ourselves. I ask you to open to us doors for the word to the people around us, the people with whom we work and play. I pray that they will believe the good news about the kingdom of God and about you and be baptized in your name.

Lord, we ask together in your name that occult powers will be bound and broken in our community. We ask in particular that teenagers here may not be drawn to the powers of darkness. We pray that you and you alone will be seen and recognized as the Great Power. We pray that miraculous signs will be done in our community by your anointed leadership and that this will cause many to pay close attention to the Word.

We pray that evil spirits will come out of many, that even paralytics and the lame will be healed in your name, so that there may be great joy in our city and nation. We ask that all who accept the word of God will receive the full measure of the Holy Spirit.

We pray that you will protect us from thinking that any of your power, or any of your gifts, can be purchased with money. Please keep our hearts right before God that we may continue to have a part and share in your ministry to our community. Prompt us to repent of any wickedness in the thoughts and intentions of our hearts. We especially pray that you will free us from any bitterness and any captivity to sin.

We pray these things in Jesus’ name, amen.
