Pray the Scriptures, May 3
Acts 7:44-8:4
Heavenly Father,
I pray that ______________________ and I may enjoy your favor this day. I pray that your favor will rest on our personal lives, our marriages, our families, and our work. May each of us be a dwelling place for you, the God of Jacob.
I pray in the name of Jesus that each one of us will have a greater sense of your majesty and power. May we understand that you cannot be contained in houses made by man. Instead, may we truly recognize that heaven is your throne and earth just your footstool. I pray that we will humbly recognize that your hands have made the heavens and the earth.
I pray that you will work in us so that we will humble ourselves under your mighty hand. Please circumcise our hearts and our ears that we may always yield to your Holy Spirit and obey you.
We pray that wherever you scatter us, we may be planted like life-giving seeds and share the good news of the gospel wherever we go. We see here how you used the persecution of the church to fulfill the mission of taking the gospel beyond Jerusalem to Judea and Samaria. In a similar way, remind us that you are always working out your sovereign purposes even in the midst of our pain and adversity.
May we always be full of the Spirit. I pray that you will open the eyes of our heart that we may see your glory and see your Son standing at your right hand. Grant us the strength and the courage to forgive those who have wounded us. And I pray that you will receive our spirit on the day you call us home to be with you.
In Jesus name, amen.
