Pray the Scriptures, May 15

Psalm 84

Lord Almighty,

I bring ______________________ before you this day, and I ask you to do in my life what I ask you to do in theirs. I ask you to hear my prayer, O Lord God, and to listen to me, O God of Jacob.

I pray that you will create in us a soul that yearns, even faints, for your presence. May our heart and flesh cry out for you, the living God. I pray that we will live in your presence and know the blessing that comes from dwelling in your courts. May we continually praise you.

I pray that our strength will not be in ourselves but in you, and that we will go from strength to strength each day until we appear before you. I pray that we will come to understand that one day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere, and that it is better to be a doorkeeper in your house than to live in the lavish dwelling places of the wicked.

I pray that you will be for us a sun and a shield, and in your grace bestow on us favor and honor. Deepen our trust in you, and I pray that you will withhold no good thing from us as we walk blamelessly before you.

I pray also for our mayor, governor, president, and all elected officials, all who are entrusted with the responsibility to be a shield and protector for us. I pray that your anointing will rest on them and that you will look on them with favor and help them.

This I ask in the name of Jesus, amen.
