Pray the Scriptures, February 14
Luke 9:57-10:12
Lord Jesus,
I pray for myself and for ______________________ that we will follow you wherever you lead us, even if means we have no place to lay our heads, and even if it means we must leave family in order to follow you. May we never resort to excuses to avoid serving you, but instead go and proclaim the kingdom of God, where you give us opportunity. I pray that we will put our hands to the plow and never look back, so that we may continue to be fit for service in the kingdom of God.
May we go ahead of you and prepare the way for others to receive you. I pray that we will recognize that the harvest is plentiful and that you will use us as laborers to bring in that harvest. When workers are few, we pray earnestly that you, as the Lord of the harvest, will send out more workers into your harvest field.
I pray that we will go where you send us, and that we will learn to depend upon you completely for every provision we need to carry out your calling on our lives. Please protect our purity and protect us from anyone who would wish to harm us. May we be as innocent as lambs even when we are sent among wolves. I pray that we will walk in complete dependence upon your provision and follow you with purpose, resolve, and dedication.
Give us wisdom to recognize when others are simply refusing to accept your message of truth, that we may shake the dust off our feet, leave them behind, and move on to others with more receptive hearts.
I pray that each of us will be a disciple of peace. May your peace rest on us, and may we in turn release the blessing of peace into the lives of those with whom we have contact. I ask you to use us to heal the sick and to speak to others the truth that the kingdom of God is near.
All this I ask in your name, amen.
